"Seagull" is several possibilities. I am hoping it is the Bad Company tune from their first album, back in the early 70s. There is also a Steeleye Span song called "Seagull" (they also did "Calling On Song"). I'm not familiar with that song, but I would bet that's the version the Cottars did. And it could totally be something else, there are lots of Seagull songs. Ooh...good searching Mott! Bad Company's version is a very good possibility. Joe

hmm I assume they started on it, I wonder what the delay is. I wonder if it is a legal issue, or perhaps they want to wait for a future tour to release it. I think part of it may be due to government cuts in arts funding. You mean to say that the Canadian government actually sponsors musicical groups with public funding? Man, the Canadians are sure liberal fiscally. I can not imagine our own government, here in America, patronising the arts extensively. And do all types of music receive funding, or only traditional music? I wouldn't think that many people would want for Avril Lavigne, for instance, to be subsidised by tax dollars. And here I just thought that we vote to support them through our pocketbooks.

As seen in today's edition of the Cape Breton Post, a portion appears below. Fans of The Cottars can Feast on group’s new CD LAURA JEAN GRANT The Cape Breton PostSYDNEY — It’s been four years since The Cottars last album and much has changed for the group that rose to fame in Celtic music circles almost a decade ago.
“It’s been as smooth sailing as we could have ever hoped it could have been,” said Ciarán. “We knew Clair for a couple years before the transition and she’s a wonderful person to be around and a very talented musician as well, and my parents actually had been friends with Bruce before I was born so it was quite convenient and it all fell together very, very smoothly.”
The quartet are now ready to showcase their sound in the form of an album, Feast, set to be released today in stores and online, on Rounder Records. Read the entire article here.. www.capebretonpost.com/index.cfm?sid=325275&sc=147

Hi, everyone.
I managed to get a copy of Feast yesterday at HMV in St. Catharines, Ontario. It cost $14.99 (CDN) and was the only copy they had. I have only listened to it once and found it to be a very well constructed album and the songs are excellent. I haven't yet found an album-defining song such as The Briar and the Rose, but I'll listen again and let you know what I think about the whole CD.
