This Sunday, June 10, to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the completing (and opening) of the Confederation Bridge, Natalie MacMaster will be performing at the Indian River Festival in PEI. The show's sold out, I'm just posting this because I happen to work there, and I'm very very excited about the possibility of meeting her, or at the very least, getting to hear some of her live music! As if she wasn't already talented enough, she's expecting another child...yet still touring! Talk about dedicated to your profession Anyway, perhaps I'll post a recap of how the show goes next week! Cheers!

What a great concert! Natalie was amazingly talented, as expected, and I was blown away by the talent of her accompanying musicians as well! As the concert was almost two weeks ago, it's a little too foggy to give a full account of the concert but the first set of jigs she played began with Old Joe's Jig-one of my favourites, so I thought that was a great way for her to start off! The second set she played, of reels, ended with MacArthur Road Reel, which is another favourite of mine. She played a good variety of both fast and slow songs, and both sounded fabulous with the amazing acoustics of the venue. Each of her band members have some opportunity to perform solo numbers, whether it was on piano, whistles, guitar and even bagpipes! I think the highlight of the show though was when she featured her daughter, Mary Frances, in a few numbers...what a talented fiddler and stepdancer! I'm sure all her kids will grow to be amazing musicians like their parents, but it's awesome to see them starting young She was definitely a hit. If anyone has the opportunity to see Natalie live, I would recommend it...it would be well worth your time and money! Cheers ;D Oh P.S. I did get to have a very brief conversation with her! Wasn't much, but an exciting start to my summer nevertheless. I'm not sure if anyone here would know of a lot of the other musicians that will be performing with the festival this summer, but I would recommend this particular band..I'm quite excited for this concert as well later this summer! www.theonce.ca
