For Christmas I received my first mp3 player... a SanDisk Sansa m240 mp3 player. But after one week...it froze quite suddenly. I learned that many other ppl have had the same trouble. Something about a fault in the firmware So I bought a new player from QVC. A Nextar ma230 mp3 player. This one is rather hard to use...as there is also a picture viewer, voice recorder, telephone list. I can't select individual artists and songs fast. Also, the player has an internal rechargable battery. To recharge it, I must use the USB cable and connect it to my computer. The charge only lasts a few hours. I think I'll be returning this back to QVC. I really liked the SanDisk Sansa brand. I may opt for the 2 GB ...hoping that it won't freeze up, like the 1 GB I had before. Many of the local stores seem to be sold out of many players at the moment. The features I am looking for is - easy navigation - list by album or artist
- 1 or 2 GB
- radio
- no voice recorder
- rechargable AAA battery power
- between US$50 to $100
What kinds of MP3 players do any of you own? Cheers, Joe

Joe, while I was traveling last spring in the US I bought an MP3 at Wal-Mart for about $80. The brand is "ilo". It has 1 GB of memory and you can add an SD flashcard for even more memory, It operates easily (after you read the instructions) and currently I have 352 songs on it. I tend to use the WMA(?) files instead of MP3 because the files are smaller and you can't really notice any difference in quality.(I'm only using a 512 MB card right now since I need my 1GB card in my digital camera). You can select artist, album, genre, shuffle and individual songs or just play all in alphabetical order. It takes one AAA battery, and you can use rechargeables if you want. It also has an FM radio with 20 presets and it does record voice, though I've never used that function. Hope that helps.

Hi Garth,
Thanks very much for your reply. It is indeed helpful; I'll make a note of the brand that you mentioned. The flashcard is another good option I'll have to consider.
Thanks again, Joe

Hi Garth!
I went to Wal-Mart yesterday and bought an mp3 player. The brand was "ilo" and quite certain that it is the one you mentioned.
The exterior of the player has a rubber-like edge for durability. I wish that the color wasn't that bold orange color though. I do like the display; the white lettering on the black background makes for easy readability.
Thanks very much for you recommendation!
Joe
