I didn't even have to stop and think about this one. Pat Works on the Railway wins for me, hands down Cheers, Ginny

I agree Ginny! It is also the first Cottars song I ever heard - they played when I discovered them with the Chieftains.

I voted for the Sinéad Lohan song "Send me a River", maybe more because of the song itself than the Cottars performance of it. I love the lyrics of this song because it reminds me a lot of me. I'd love someone to send me a river, 'cause I'm not where I want to be. And I love the third verse... ...and when your evening gown trails into the mud remember what they're seeing is not what it's all about and you've got to walk on through with millions on either side watching you with their eyes... These are great lyrics. The Cottars do a nice job with this song. Rich

For me I would have to say Waterlily. I feel that song like no other. I almost feel as if that song was written for me. And when I sing it, I go am transported away. It's beautiful!

I agree, elizarose! The beginning of the song sounds like rain falling in a beautiful, lush flower garden. Rosie's fiddle playing just adds an mellow beauty to the song, and the song fits Fiona's voice very, very well. The first thing that caught me was the maturity of her voice. I still am impressed when I see pictures of her now as to how grown up she is. It is funny to listen to her recording on the Cape Breton by Request sampler CD, and then hear her sing Waterlilly and look at some recent pictures of her!
God Bless, afanoffiona

I voted for send me a river too, I love that song, especially when rosie joins fiona in on the chorus it sounds like waves washing up on a shore. I also like the third verse, its helped a couple of times.

I voted for th Honeysukle Hornpipe. Its my favorite because I play the fiddle too, and one day I just spent an hour or an hour and a half repeating it on my CD player until I got it right. I love it! Roseannes the best!

You know there is a Tom Waits video on the internet of hm doing that song. It was really good, but I don't recall where I saw it. Maybe someone can find it, but the Cottars version sounds just like the way he does it.
