Hi all, I think it would be a wonderful idea if we could use this thread to express our appreciation to The Cottars on their very successful year. Also use this opportunity to send your best Christmas wishes to the group. They (and their musical director Allister) have been very supportive of this forum. I shall gather all of your best wishes and include them in an e-mail to Allister MacGillivray. I know that they all take a trip on the week of Christmas, so I'll make sure these are delivered before they leave. Many thanks to everyone for their friendship and loyalty on our forum this year. It's been so much fun...what can I say but "Thanks." Best wishes from the captain

It has been great. I love coming here to discuss Celtic music, as most of the kids at school only want to talk about classical [not that classical is bad or anything...].
As for Christmas wishes to the Cottars, that is something I want to think out. It is going to feel really strange giving Christmas greetings to Fiona and company. Sorta like saying merry Christmas to Michael Jordan or George Bush. Of course, that girl on the Cottars' guestbook didn't do too bad a job!
But, we must remember that they are people just like us. Even our heros are still human.
God Bless, afanoffiona

Wow, this is pretty cool....I mean, it's not everyday you get to send Christmas greetings to "our heroes", even if they are just normal people ( ). I'll have to think about what to say. And Joe-thanks to you to. This forum is amazing, and without you, we wouldn't have it Cheers, Ginny

Thanks Joe for the opportunity to send a Holiday message...here is mine:
To The Cottars:
I've only seen you this year at the Irish Fest in Milwaukee, and earlier in the year in Chicago with the Chieftains. But I did enjoy your performances very much, and I listen to your CDs all the time. You're a terrific group, wonderful performers and it seems like you enjoy performing for us as much as we enjoy listening. I sincerely wish for you a great holiday season, and look forward to seeing more of you in the coming years. Thank you for the joy you have given to me and to your many other fans. Take care.
Sincerely, Rich Ramey

Thanks again, Joe, for this wonderful privilege! Good grief, I feel like I might have written something stupid or something!!!!!! Anyway, It was fun to think of what I wanted to say to each person, and it is a good way to let them know how much we appriciate the work they do! Here are my greetings: Ciaran, I guess this message is from one pianist to another. I wish I could someday make it to your level, but I am just a simple college piano major, and not near as funny as you are. It is scary to think about how good you will be if you keep up what you are doing. Anyway, I just wanted to wish you a merry Christmas, and hope that the new year goes well for you and the rest of the band. From one pianist to another, Adam -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Claire and Bruce, What a thrill it must be for you guys to be traveling the US and Canada with Fiona and Ciaran. I haven't heard you guys play yet, but, from what I heard, you guys are really good. I can't wait to hear you!!!! Anyway, Merry Christmas, and may God richly bless you in this new year of performing with Fiona and Ciaran! Looking forward to hearing you, Adam -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fiona, What can I say. You are a girl with more talent in one finger than I have in my entire body. When I hear you sing, it sends chills up and down my spine, and sometimes brings me to tears. Your voice is simply incredible. I know you have probably heard a whole lot of people tell you that, but that is only because it is true. You are already my favorite singer, and you just keep getting better and better! I know it seems rather ironic to say “merry Christmas” to someone with the voice of angel, but it is a privilege to do so. I pray that your talent will continue to blossom, and the incredible gifts of everyone in the group will continue to be blessed in the new year. Your Loyal Fan, Adam

Ok here's mine
To The Cottars, First of all, I'd like to thank you for the wonderful show you performed at the Jubilee Theatre on Nov. 23. I had an awesome time. Secondly, I'd like to say Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and best of luck in the future. Every time I see you perform I can't believe how much you've improved since the concert before. Each of you have amazing talents, and I wish you much success in your future musical careers. As a fellow east coaster, I think it's awesome that you're sharing our traditions with the rest of the world, and letting them know that we do exist. Thanks for that! Have a wonderful Christmas! Best Wishes, Virginia H.
