Hi everyone!
Today is a special day, as it was exactly one year ago today that this forum was created.
I wanted to share my interest and excitement of The Cottars' music to like-minded people around the world. Besides the Canadian and American visitors here over the past year, members from France, the UK, and many other countries have contributed so much to the forum.
The friends that I have made this past year are truly special to me. They have shared their many concert experiences and feelings about so many artists that are featured here.
So, with all that aside, come and join the anniversary party. There's lots of cake and punch for everyone...help yourself to the pizza. I hope you brought a musical instrument with you for the kitchen party.
Have fun, Captain Joe

That was a very nice message Joe In the nine months I've been here, I've met some amazing people. Even though I live in the province with the most celtic ancestry, I don't know that many people who will actually admit they love Celtic music. (People my age I mean...some of my grandmother's friends will admit they do ). Anyway, this forum gave me the chance to finally meet people who have almost the exact same music taste as me. Also, everyone here is just so nice! It's great how we can talk about almost anything. This is seriously the coolest place to be online (except for Facebook of course ). Just kidding! Cheers!!! Ginny

This is such a great site! I am so happy I have been able to be apart of it and hope to more active in the future. I have learned alot and I hope others have learned from me. ;D I must admit although I love music and have sung my whole life, the Cottars have reinspired me to stop alot of bad stuff I;ve been doing and I have been able to restart my love of music and singing all over again. I have started to sing with a coworker of mine who also loves celtic music. Maybe one day I can sing for everyone here, but I don't think I will ever match the Cottars. thanks everyone for being so nice and kind and helpful!!!!!!!!!
Peace Love and Happiness,
Anam Cara
P.S. how does the online kitchen work and where do you go to be apart of it?

Thanks Ginny and ElizaRose for your kind comments! An online kitchen party is a sort of a pretend party. Basically for this forum it's when there's a lot of people on at once and the posts are one right after another!
Knowing that "anam cara" in Gaelic literally means "soul friend"...it is certainly true.
Love to you both, Joe

Happy anniversary to the forum! I'm happy you started the forum, Joe, as it gave me a chance to not only find out more about the Cottars, but also to meet other fans and discover other facets of Celtic music and culture. I must admit I am not of Celtic descent, but I have enjoyed the music for several years (as I enjoy other types of music). In fact I heard live Irish music just last Saturday, quite enjoyable as always. Not just the listening, but the friendliness of the group members, the singing-along, the happy times for all. Oh and the Harp, I can't forget that. It is through my Irish band-pals that I started going to Irish festivals, especially the one in Milwaukee that is one of the largest around. And I saw the Cottars there a few years ago and became an instant fan. And through their website to this forum. Anyway I appreciate the forum, I check it about every day to see what's new, and am happy to be a part of it. I hope Joe you continue your fine work with the forum, keeping us up to date with all that's going on, and I hope to be more a part of it for 2007, for the groups I hope to see including the Cottars. Thanks so much.

Happy anniversary! Thanks for starting this Joe, like everyone else has said I love being part of this for several reasons, one I finally got to figure out what was going on with the cottars, and two I've found people that love them and irish music as much as I do, which is very rare to find. go raibh míle maith agat Tia
