The website AtlanticSeaBreeze.com is reporting that The Cottars' last performance together will be August 20, 2006 at Irish Fest in Milwaukee, USA.
I'm not giving much weight to this. Watch this space, as they say.

Oh no...I hope not...I was really really hoping that they'd do the Maritime tour...keep praying that they'll play together a little longer than that Ginny

Hi Ginny I suppose the hardest part about all of this is the uncertainty. It might be somewhat comforting if we knew more. All of those concerts are still up in the air. But keep Have a good night, Ginny. Enjoy your weekend! )h-u-g-s( Joe ;D

I just read the article...it really doesn't sound like they're going to perform any more after this summer... ... I agree that the worst part is the uncertainty...I wish they'd just update their site or something so that we'd know for sure...I told some family and friends who enjoy their music that they were coming to perform near my area, and that it would be our last chance to see them...they were all looking forward to it too...it's going to be hard to break the news to them that we probably won't get to see them... Anyway, Cheers (I guess), Ginny

We are nice people...we're just crazy Cheers, Ginny ;D

By the way, thanks for the latest update...it's good to know that they are planning to perform into the fall as well...that makes the idea of a Maritime tour more hopeful Cheers, Ginny

Welcome Adam P ! Thank you for joining our forum! I look forward to reading you posts. You'll find a pleasant crew of members here. I communicate with The Cottars' musical director Allister a few times a month, so this is the place to be! Allister could not confirm any concerts beyond this week. I planned to see the group August 8; he couldn't give a sure answer if the concert was a go. Of course the venue is selling tickets anyway. I've learned from past experience that venues can sell tickets without getting a definite contract from the artist. Moving forward, I still have many performances on this page. You'll find those two dates in the Boston area you mentioned plus one in Vermont that was just added. I do hope and pray (if things go in our favour) that you will indeed see The Cottars perform in September. Thanks once again for becoming a part of the forum! Joe aka Captain MacCeilidh

Joe and Ginny,
Thanks for the welcome messages! I would have responded sooner but I moved and was without the internet. (The soundtrack of my move included the Cottars as well as Leahy who I will see in 2 weeks and the Cheiftains Canadian album which I just bought recently.)
This place seems fun and posts that get off topic is great with me especially when it's about GBS, one of my fave bands! I've seen them live...like 10 times since 2000 or so.
Hopefully the Cottars show I bought tickets for will go on. I do have a bit of insider info for everyone. The Cottars are scheduled to play the Boston Folk Fest. After seeing Rosie MacKenzie at a fest in MA in July where it was mentioned that the Cottars couldnt attend, I emailed the BFF's director asking if they would be there and she responded saying they have a confirmation from their agent that they will perform. And, on their website, there is now a note that says that despite the Cottars disbanding they will be playing. Unfortanately, I can't go to that fest but am going to the show the night before so hopefully it'll go.
I only saw them live once - last March with the Chieftains which is when I discovered them. I have all but the first CD and after a few money orders being sent back to me because of wrong addresses, I think I finally got the right one!

I wonder if the Cottars are going to keep there performances for next year, or whether they will have new dates. I know they had a maritimes tour as well as their performances with the Chieftains.
God Bless, afanoffiona

Hey Adam, I'm sure that the concert on Sept. 16 will go through. Looks like a wonderful venue. I thought about attending this...I mapped out the route to Turners Falls MA and it's six hours from PA. Thanks for confirming the show at the Univ of Mass on Sept. 17. Ginny was hard at work posting tons of GBS stuff. She attended a concert and has a great story from it. You've got a great list of concerts there! Joe

Yeah, they had some shows in Europe and Australia lined up next year. I'll see what I can find. I think the Maritime tour will continue, but you know how things can change. J-o-e
