Joe,
I noticed the schedule has the Cottars playing in Boston as part of the Nova Scotia Tree that is lit. Is this confirmed? I ask cause the link has no mention of the Cottars, If so, I'll be there!

In the older cottar web page it has 2 more concerts of them in december, and I'm pretty sure that the tree lighting is one of them, enjoy!

So I tried to see them but apparently missed them. Traffic going downtown at that point was bad and by the time I got there it was almost 7 (a local folk station's website stated theyd play at 6). I think I saw them around during the ceremony but can't prove that! The tree was nice to see though!

Here's a news article from WCVB-channel 5 about the Boston Christmas tree lighting .. www.thebostonchannel.com/asseenon5/10317815/detail.htmlThe full text is below... BOSTON -- WCVB-TV Channel 5's Chronicle again rings in the holiday season with Boston's Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony, a live, one-hour Yuletide spectacular on the Boston Common. The program, airing Thursday, Nov. 30 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., will be hosted by Chronicle's Mary Richardson and Anthony Everett. They will be joined by international singing sensation Ronan Tynan, who first became a medical doctor and a Paralympics world-record holding athlete before becoming one of the three original Irish Tenors. The program will also feature Gospel sensation Renese King, whose array of musical talents have taken her from spiritual and Gospel singing at the church podium to the Carnegie Hall stage. Boston Children's Chorus under the direction of Anthony Trecek-King will be part of the festivities. The Boston Children's Chorus is a multiracial, multiethnic arts education organization that unites area children across differences to discover the power of singing. The chorus has just released its first CD and will be performing live on Channel 5 for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, on Jan. 15. There's no better way to put yourself in a toe-tapping fun and festive Christmas frame of mind than by enjoying your favorite holidays songs choreographed with the flair and style of Masquerade. Masquerade has performed on the same bill as Stevie Wonder, James Taylor, Pattie LaBelle and Elton John. They have released their recording "Un-Masked" on CD and cassette. Brother and sister duo Ciaran and Fiona MacGillivray will feature the folk music of their native Nova Scotia, Canada. The highlight of the broadcast will, of course, be the lighting of a 40-foot spruce tree, an annual holiday gift made to the city of Boston by the people of Nova Scotia in gratitude for Boston's help during a ship explosion in that country several decades ago. Anyone attending the tree lighting is encouraged to bring canned goods for Boston's 20th Annual Boston Can Share Food Drive. Cans will be donated to The Greater Boston Food Bank. KeySpan Energy Delivery has joined with Mayor Tom Menino as the city’s official Holiday Tree Lighting Can Share sponsor for 2006. KeySpan volunteers will be at the city's tree lighting on Boston Common to collect donations for Can Share. Copyright 2006 by TheBostonChannel.com. All rights reserved.
