Hi gang, It seems that all 4 have grown apart as to their vision of the group's future. A split seems inevitable now. Let's hope, as they go their separate ways at the end of the year , that each of them keep and nuture their gift of music and voice. Remember that they gave us three wonderful CD's. I do hope that you all hang on and keep visiting our forum here. Joe ;D

Hey Joe,
I will have too keep checking back here because I want to keep updated on what happens with each musician. I hope they still perform at Milwaukee's Irish Fest so that I can see them live in concert one more time before they break up. I hope I get to hear Fiona sing live again. I might have to take a vacation to Cape Breton in order to do that after they break up, though. But let's hope not.
God Bless, afanoffiona

Hello afanoffiona, For now, the Milwaukee Irish Fest looks OK. I just have updated our concert schedule and I checked all the festivals' links to make sure they are still good. Looks like they dropped the Kansas City Irish Fest. Did you order your Cottars shirt yet? I did last night and I got the 2-day airmail. Oh, thanks for the picture of the shirts. Joe

Hey Joe, No, not yet, I had to go shopping today. It's ok, as the Milwaukee Irish Festival isn't until late August. It is going to feel really weird if it is their farewell concert . God Bless, afanoffiona

Actually this all makes sense now.
When I heard the Cottars down in Chicago with the Chieftains, I went to buy some CD's. There were two ladies there selling. They were really glad that I had waited so long in line. I told them that I hoped to perform with the Cottars some day. Then, all of the sudden, they seemed to have this really odd and kinda pesstimistic look on their face. I wonder if they knew....
God Bless, afanoffiona

I do hope that you all hang on and keep visiting our forum here. PLEASE Joe whatever you do, DON'T close this forum...this is a great way for us to keep in touch with each of the Cottars, and for us to find out what they're up to...I know you won't, but I though I'd beg anyway...

by the way...if they're likely to break apart in November....does anyone know if that means that they are doing the Maritime tour, and finishing with that? it would make sense to me...seeing as that's where they started out...might as well finish off there...if so, I may actually get to see them one last time...

Hi Ginny Don't worry...this forum will still be here for all of us to enjoy. I have bigger plans for you all. Thanks for all of your wonderful posts by the way...you've helped make the forum special! Yeah, when Allister said after November, I quickly thought of the Maritime tour. Let's hope that they will hang on for those shows. Can you imagine, though, if like The Cottars are fighting (not really fighting, but giving each other the cold shoulder) ...Roseanne could really hurt someone when she gets her fiddle bow working! I'm hoping to see them in August at Longwood Gardens here in Pennsylvania but I am really unsure if this concert is still on. Thanks and hugs Ginny Joe

If this is indeed true my Cape Breton dreams are gone. What do you mean exactly? What were/are your "Cape Breton dreams"?

maybe it's just me, but does anyone else find it a bit frustrating that there is nothing about the Cottars splitting up on thecottars.com, or miramusic.net/cottars, or rounder.com or any other sites? honestly, if it wasn't for this forum, I'd still be in the dark about it, as are many other Cottars fans right now...Joe honestly, I can't thank you enough for this forum...it's the only up-to-date Cottars source right now
Cheers

If this is indeed true my Cape Breton dreams are gone. What do you mean exactly? What were/are your "Cape Breton dreams"? Hi Ginny, Quite honestly, it was probably frustration in my voice. I've learned so much about Cape Breton through maps, books, and of course music. I still hope to come up to Cape Breton some day! Even if we lose The Cottars, they might turn solo. Still, there's a long time between now and November. Do you think that The Cottars might just get back together?

Yeah, Ginny. I knew something was strange b/c the schedule at the miramusic site wasn't updated at all. Then their home page still had info about the CD release and upcoming tour w/ the Chieftains...that was still from January. Thanks for your kind words, Ginny Your friend...Joe

no prob...kind words is what Cottars fans need right now Of course, like every other fan, I hope they get back together...maybe once they take a break, finish school, go to university or whatever they choose to do after high school, they'll decide to reunite...as much as I'd love it, I really can't see them deciding to stay together right now...I think they probably just need a break for a while...as for you wanting to visit Cape Breton Joe, I highly recommend you go...don't let the Cottars break up ruin any dreams you had of going there...It's honestly my second favourite place in Canada. Plus, there's plenty of other Cape Breton bands who are really good as well-The Barra MacNeils, Natalie McMaster, Aselin Debison....and so many more. I do hope you make it up here sometime Cheers, Ginny
