Hello ! Just saying "thank you" for joining the forum! This is the place to find out where The Cottars are going once they split up. Also we'll learn about some rising musicians in Atlantic Canada and elsewhere. We are a friendly bunch...slightly crazy at times. Please feel free to create a post, or reply to one of ours. I look forward to reading them. Thanks again for joining our crew! Regards, "Captain" Joe

Hello! Just finished seeing The Cottars last night at Butchart Gardens. It was a lovely setting for an outdoor concert and absolutely the perfect venue to see the Cottars in. They were mesmerizing and wonderful as usual. I will post a concert report and pictures in awhile Roseanne and Jimmy are no longer with The Cottars and have been replaced by Claire Pettit (who is 16 and a wonderful fiddle player) and Bruce Timmins on guitar. They are a nice fit. Jimmy is apparently no longer able to perform or tour due to his health. We wish him well. We spoke with Fiona, Ciaran and Claire as well as Beverly MacGillivray and they informed us that the group will still be continuing on and touring. They are not sure if the name will remain "The Cottars" or not at this point, but they will certainly continue playing their traditional music from the CD's as well as a little "pop" like "Hold On" and writing new tunes as well. So thankfully, this is not the end They are wonderful, gracious people and we have high hopes that things will only continue to get better from here I am a long time Cottars fan, and a fiddler from British Columbia. My husband and I play celtic music with a group of local musicians. Nice to meet everyone here!

Hi Kim! Well, if there was something that we Cottars fans needed, this was it! I'm so glad you enjoyed the concert at Butchart Gardens on August 3rd. Thanks for telling us about Claire and Bruce. Sounds like they are suitable replacements for Roseanne and Jimmy. I wish Jimmy well. I knew he suffers from Crohn's disease (gastro-intestinal inflammation) and I'm unsure if his present trouble is connected in any way. Roseanne has joined John McDermott's band. Indeed the MacGillivrays are gracious people. Bev and Allister have been very kind to me. How wonderful that you and your husband are Celtic musicians! We need to keep this music going! I very much am looking forward to reading your concert report and seeing the pictures. Kindly post these in the "Concert Reviews" board. Thanks so much...you've made my day, Kim! Share a smile ! Regards, Joe
