Hi faerie I assume Jimmy and Rosie won't be there, because they did split and it looks like they are forming their own band. And yes the Cottars can still be the Cottars, because I assume Fiona (or her dad) owns the name. At least they toured this summer as the Cottars with 2 subs for Rosie and Jimmy, so I assume Fiona owns the name (since she said she thought of it). Or if you mean can they still perform to the high Cottar standards with 2 new people, well when I saw them in August they did. But it remains to be soon who will perform in 2007 as the Cottars. My opinions anyway

Well said, Rich! ;D Faerie, some sort of official announcement regarding the future of The Cottars is supposed to be released at the end of November. Things are looking way better now than back in July. Joe

I hope the Cottars stay in existance so that the world will keep hearing Fiona's voice. I think it will only be time before she becomes a star!
Anyway, I hope the Cottars keep their concert with the Chieftains in March. There is this girl I am interested in who I think would like to hear that concert. She liked Aselin Debison, and we are going to a folk festival at the end of this month. However, I don't get why the Cottars are waiting until November to tell us about their future. I can only guess it is because they do not know any more than what we do.
God Bless, afanoffiona

Then again stranger things have happened, I don't know Fiona's feelings, maybe she is sick of it all. But from the little I saw of her in August in Milwaukee, it seems she enjoys singing and touring and doing what she's doing, and all with Ciaran (who seems to enjoy it too). I do kind of agree that the Cottars don't really know what they want to do in 2007. I also can only guess too, but maybe it's not clear if Claire and Bruce want to stay with the group, or if the group has someone else in mind for fiddle or guitar, or if they are just setting up dates for next year, including touring with the Chieftains again. My guess is that Allister and his kids want to set up a permanent Cottars group, and need to finalize who will be in it and terms and all that, but again it's a guess, But above all I DO hope that there is an announcement in November, and it makes us all quite happy.

Hi all, I checked this link...it now appears that The MacKenzie Project will be performing instead of The Cottars. So this thread will be moved to The MacKenzie Project board. www.savannahga.gov/artsclick on the 2007 pdf file ... look for March 10. Joe

My heart has broken . I was so looking forward to seeing Ciaran and Fiona. Now I have to wait and hope they will perform close enough to me to go (I had a vacation set up around that show). I guess to me the Cottars were mainly Ciaran and Fiona. I do believe that the McKenzie's are very talented but they just never did it for me. I'll check out their new band of course but I don't want to see them. I hope no one hates me for saying this. Sigh I guess I;ll just have to wait longer to see them perform. ElizaRose/AnamCara
