The Cottars will headline the third annual Antigonish Ceilidh Association Pastoral Airs concert on Wednesday, July 15 at the St. Francis Xavier University Chapel.

“We are so excited to have The Cottars joining us. They are amazing band and we think people are really going to enjoy their performance,” ceilidh association member John Pellerin said.
Known for their haunting Gaelic ballads, The Cottars’ music is eclectic, featuring fiddles, keyboards, whistles, Irish flute, bouzouki, guitars and bodhráns.
If that isn’t enough, they also step dance.
“It is a show that people won’t want to miss,” Pellerin said.
Along with the Cottars, the concert will feature a variety of artists from the region. Organizers are finalizing the line-up. “The calibre of musicians is always phenomenal,” association member Shelley Anderson said.
Another star of the show is the location. This year, the Pastoral Airs will take centre stage at the St. F.X. University Chapel. “We think it is going to be a tremendous venue,” association member Fred Alexander said.
Last year, headliner Raylene Rankin and the other performers wowed the crowd at St. James United Church. The Pastoral Airs concert is the major fundraiser for the Antigonish Ceilidh Association, which promotes the Scottish tradition through fiddle music, dance and song.
Tickets are available at Brendan’s Fairway on Hawthorne St. in Antigonish. They will not be sold at the door, so people are encouraged to make their purchases early.
