Hey guys, I thought I'd start this thread so we can discuss the CD, post our own reviews, compare favourite songs, etc. So to start...has anyone bought/heard the full CD yet? Any thoughts? I haven't yet, but hopefully I will in the next few days.
Cheers, Ginny

Yes mine came yesterday, and I listened to it all the way through while driving, and bits and pieces driving back from work. I do feel the CD is as good as reviewers are saying. I like the selections, as always, and the arrangements are great, as always. And, I liked it better than Forerunner, but not as much as the other 2 CDs. But that doesn't mean I disliked the CD, I liked it very much (maybe not quite as much as Joe). My favorite tune (so far) is Fare Thee Well Northumberland. The song has a country flavor, and though I don't like country music, they pull it off well and don't overdo it. Listening to the song reminded me of the Dubliners, and how they performed; the style seemed similar. I enjoyed this song and Claire's playing in a break. I liked Leave Tomorrow Till It Comes very much. I was hoping Ciaran would sing it a certain way, and he did. He didn't try to be Glenn Yarbrough, he sang it simply as himself. And it was just him and Bruce on the track. They performed it exactly as I hoped they would. Claire sings lead on one song, and I was surpised how well she sang. I guess because I never heard her before. On that same song Young Munro, she played her best fiddle of the set I felt. And Fiona wrote a couple of tunes for the set. It seemed like she wrote the songs so she could sing them and not have to stretch for notes (which is OK, nothing wrong with that...Dougie MacLean seems to do that too). Just my opinion about the music, but the lyrics were heavenly I thought. I do have one criticism: Though I love ballads, I felt the CD didn't have enough bouncy fun songs on it. I counted 2 (I left out the instrumentals). I would have liked one more sing-alongish tune. And I was struck that perhaps the Cottars tried too hard to be perfect on this CD. Nothing wrong with that neither, but it just struck me that way. Sorry I rambled on, but generally speaking I'm very happy with the CD. I'm sure as I listen to it more and more, I will appreciate the music more. That's they way I feel with their other CDs, they sound better with each playing. And I do hope they tour this year to promote this.

I agree entirely..mostly with you Mott, I very much enjoyed this cd...and currently listening to it, and have been listening to it pretty much non stop since I got it. Although I tend to do that with any new cd I get.
I also enjoyed Forerunner better, maybe I'm still not sold on the new cottars, and miss the old group, but I think I enjoyed the tunes on forerunner better.
I think my favourite song would have to be Fare Thee Well, Northumberland, followed by Your Love's return. I also really enjoy Young Munro and was pleasently surprised with Claire's solo. I liked Fiona's songs, I think they were too simillar, especialy to be put so close together, but I like them, I especially like Hymn for N
And thats my 2 cents worth...for now ;D
