‘I’m excited to be back’ 20-year-old Aselin Debison set to release 4th CD this summer. Entitled "Homeward Bound", the new album featuring 12 tracks recorded at Lakewind Sound Studios in Point Aconi. Aselin co-wrote half of the album with other writers, including her fiance Jonathan Ettinger, who is also from Glace Bay, and well-known island musicians Bruce Guthro and Fred Lavery, who also produced the album. The rest of the CD features tracks she picked up over the last few years, including four from Gordie Sampson, and a cover of Simon & Garfunkel's 'Homeward Bound', the title track. I understand that the album has a folk and country feel. Aselin noted that since the five years since her last CD "Bigger Than Me" music has never left her. She starts her third year at St. Francis Xavier University this fall in the human kinetics program. No longer under the Sony label, "Homeward Bound" will be an independent release. A single from the CD 'Close To Home' is receiving excellent airplay. Yesterday's Cape Breton Post had a rather nice article...the link is below. www.capebretonpost.com/Arts/Entertainment/2010-08-18/article-1683354/%26lsquo%3bI%26rsquo%3bm-excited-to-be-back%26rsquo%3b/1 Also visit the new Aselin Debison official website.... aselindebison.com/Hopefully we will learn the CD's release date soon. wOW...This song would do SUPER BRILLIANT on American Country Radio stations. I think that American country music is very similar to certain Celtic music. Except that Americans don't use the pennywhistle, or bodran. But I also think that it seems as if it's hard to get air play on country radio, as it appears to be controled by the Nashville establishment. Nashville seems to promote conservative artists with a more modern sound. If one is a liberal with a traditional musical style, you can get the cold shoulder. Just look at what happened to the Dixie Chicks. I personally feel that it might be best for some American country folk artists to relocate to Cape Breton, and make it the new country music capitol.

I'm glad that I'm able to listen to her latest album. Though I wonder why she had her entire songs uploaded. I mean why buy the album, when I can listen to it on-line for free? A few singles might be a nice treat, and entice me to want to purchase the CD, in order to hear more. But the entire album might actually hurt sales I think.

Hi Jason, What is your favorite song on Aselin's newest CD? Best wishes, Joe I've just recently been able to listen to recordings on-line, at any time, without adversly affecting my computer's connectivity. So after listening to this album again, I'll say that all of the lyrics are well written, and the music is well composed. They do sound like a roots based country music which is not often heard in America now of days, but also with modern instrumental accompaniment. It's really hard to pick a song I particularly like, above all the others. But, in my personal tastes, I feel that "Close to You" is the most lively, and powerful, of all of them. It sets the stage for the rest of the varying types of songs.
