Record crowds at Yack Folk Festival

THE Yackandandah Folk Festival enhanced its reputation as one of the region’s fastest-growing events with record numbers flocking to the town.

Organisers estimate more than 2000 tickets were sold while another 5000 people flocked to yesterday’s market, which was the biggest in the festival’s 14-year history.

The “cow-punk” of Scottish group The Oily Girls and the Celtic fun of Canadian clan The Cottars were big crowd pleasers while Australian rockers The Go Set literally had them hanging from the rafters.

“The feedback has been hugely positive from organisers, artists and visitors alike,” Mr Smith said.

“Every artist has said they’d love to come back next year, which is basically the best feedback I could want.”
