Back in the 1800's on PEI, a murder occurred in the small community of Margate. The reasons I chose to include this particular story are A) It's a well-known story because the accused in the murder was the last public hanging victim on PEI and 2) It happened very close to my hometown so it's always fascinated me a bit (not to sound too morbid or anything!)
The story itself is told nicely in this link:

A few years ago I came across a forum of someone who was compiling a collection of PEI ghost stories. Someone posted a fairly detailed account of hauntings that were believed to be taking place on an old property in Burlington, PE (about a 5 minute drive from Margate). This property was owned for many years by a Johnstone family, who originated a former attraction called "Woodleigh Replicas" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woodleigh_Replicas). However, the original owners were a Millman family, as in, yes, Will Millman's kinfolk. Could it be possible that Will himself, or members of his family still haunt the grounds of the property?
Next to this property is a one-lane dirt road that you can drive on to travel from Burlington to Irishtown. Most of it is surrounded by trees. I've driven on this road, at night, and I assure you it's creepy! One of the accounts I read on that forum described ghostly sounds that have been heard among the trees in the wind on this road...which would not surprise me at all.
Fortunately, this past summer, the Woodleigh property was purchased by a family who intend to re-open it soon. This Halloween they are having a ghost walk. It's unlikely that I will make it, but if I happen to, I'll definitely share an account on here!
