Thanks for the warm welcome!!! I was on a cruise earlier this month that included a stop in Sydney, Nova Scotia. I opted for the "Sounds of the Fiddle" excursion and I'm so happy I did! I got the chance to hear Fiona's beautiful voice. I spoke with her during the break and purchased the latest CD from The Cottars. I posted a picture in my Flickr album and uploaded a video to YouTube Flickr: flic.kr/p/pmc2ogYouTube: youtu.be/lE4E0V5qglsFiona said The Cottars have toured in the US, appearing in 40 states. She does not think the band has ever performed in my home state of Maryland however. Is the band still touring? If so, anyone have a booking contact so I can pass the word to people organizing the 2015 Celtic and Irish Festivals? |

Awesome video and a wonderful photo! The Cottars are not touring... goodthat Fiona is still doing the occasional performance. Some nearby concerts to you would have been at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC in 2003 and Longwood Gardens near Kennett Square, PA, in 2005. It was during this summer 2005 tour that I saw The Cottars in Oxford, NY (about 90 minutes to my north). I do have some booking contacts but I don't know how current the info is. I will ask Fiona's father (the great Allister MacGillivray) about this. Also I am sure he will enjoy seeing your video from Sydney Best wishes, my friend! |
