im kinda wondering.. why rosie and jimmy quit the band
like if fiona and ciaran still decided to stay in the band why would Rosie and Jimmy just all make up instead of replacing.
I dont think claire lives in cape breton
its kind of sad
ill have to see in November

I think they quit because of Jimmy's health. I know he has been sick, and, reading between the lines, it seems like the parents felt his health was more important than the band.
I know that must have something to do with it. It is mostly speculation, though. They are probably not going to tell us something so personal as to the social interactions between the group.

Yes, I agree that Jimmy's health played an issue. I trust that whatever is ailing Jimmy will be made right. I think Claire does live in Cape Breton...Ginny may know more. This forum is just getting started...we are all good friends and it's a lot of fun.  Joe  |

One thing that does bother me, though, is why Rosanne is going off with John McDermott, instead of remaining with The Cottars. I mean, yes, Jimmy can't perform because of his health, but that doesn't mean Rosanne can't perform with them! I mean, she can perform with The Cottars just as easily as she can perform with John McDermott. Just odd, I guess.
Then again, who would have thought a year ago at this time that The Cottars would loose either of the MacKenzies.

Well Iknow jimmy missed numerous shows a few years ago
i heard he has Crones disease its sad
i hope its not deathly
OH i saw john mcdermott here a few years ago
I love him.. lol does anyone else live in cape breton i have some pictures of the cottars i took with me a few years ago i will post them on here when i get a chance we were only young

It's doesn't sound like Jimmy's fatally sick, but you're right, it is sad. Crohn's can be a nasty disease. Hopefully his health will improve soon. John McDermott is a very good musician. I don't think anyone else on this forum lives in CB...I want to go back there SO BAD...it's been like, three years I think since I've been there last...too long  .
