Hey Mott!!!
Ya, but even that also goes back to popularity. If Fiona were a really popular girl with a lovely voice [i.e. like Charlotte Church], it would give Josh more incentive to want to set up a duet with her, even though he is in high demand. While Fiona has a whole lot to do, I don't think she would turn down Josh if he wanted to do a duet on their next CD. The implications of Josh Groban recognizing the talent of the Cottars would be immense!
I agree that I think they would have to be in the same venue. But, even there, there would have to be incentive for Josh to do it, and there really isn't much. As I said, it is all about popularity here. It is one of those sad realities in the music world today where people don't listen to a whole lot of music outside of a particular genre. Josh's genre is immensly popular today, and hence, he is going to get more notice. When you are that popular, and in such high demand, you have to have incentive to do things.
The reality is that Fiona has decided to do what she loves. She doesn't do it for popularity. In fact, Ciarian was impressed, and very suprised when I told him that I listened to their music all of the time. They do it because they love their music, and don't care about whether or not they are popular. Whereas Josh Groban sent his demo tape to Celine Dion's producer! Now, there is nothing wrong with that, but it shows you that Josh and Fiona have slightly different reasons for doing music.
I hope this doesn't sound selfish, but if she gets to perform with Josh, I may never get to perform with her [something I have always hoped I would have the opportunity of doing]. If Josh recognizes their talent, her popularity will soar, and I won't get that opportunity. However, I also want to wish Fiona and the Cottars the best as well. So, in a certain sense, I am glad things are the way they are, but in another sense, I guess I would be very happy for her if she got that opportunity. Understand?
Good grief, I ask about what people would think about Fiona doing a song, and we get off on a tangent about what it would be like for the person who is actually singing the song to do a duet with Fiona.
God Bless,

But besides popularity, there is a matter of the time and distance element. I would imagine Josh Groban is in high demand and can't spend much of his time singing duets with everybody with a lovely voice. For that matter, Fiona probably has lots to do herself just getting her act together with the new group and rehearsing and getting whatever new material. Plus travel, touring etc. would keep them apart, even if they're in the same city at the same time.
