Well, I could almost play the piano. I have an Irish whistle and bodhran but I'm not very good.

I had a few piano lessons when I was 11 but I had to quit for money reasons I've always wanted to play the piano but instead I took up the guitar and can play some tunes and sing along that's enough to please me

Hi all, I've never had any piano lessons but I used to attempt to play a song by ear. After a while, my ear got tired!

Hi everyone!
I play the French Horn, Piano and the Didgeridoo. I also sing (it's not playing an instrument perse, but it is an instrument none the less!).
I can also play short songs("Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" "Mary Had A Little Lamb" etc) on the Flute, Clarinet, Trombone, Trumpet, Tenor Sax, Violin and String Bass.
I would LOVE to learn to play guitar and the string bass more. Maybe one day!

I have a tin ear so I'm hoping it'll help me learn the tin whistle! Sorry, couldn't resist. I just bought one recently, but I haven't had a chance to practice (I've never been very good about making the time). It's really fun though! -Meredith

Hi Meredith,
I also have a tin whistle. I've only gotten round to playing scales on it. It's got the Guinness logo on it. The bodhran is more interesting. I got one from eBay at a good price.
Maybe Ciaran or Fiona could learn the Didgeridoo when they go to Australia next year!

Maybe Ciaran or Fiona could learn the Didgeridoo when they go to Australia next year! That would be fun to see/hear! I've been playing the didg for three years now. It was easy to pick up and play, but my friend (who had the didg I learned to play on) told me it was because I play French Horn. I've spent time now perfecting the technique except for one import one: circular breathing. That's a difficult one to learn, but it's like riding a bike: once you learn you can't forget. I found a really good site on how to play the didg and the different sounds that can be made here: aboriginalart.com.au/didgeridoo/dig_background.html<3 Caite

Hi Caite, Thanks for the info on the didg. Lots of good reading there! It certainly is a wondrous instrument. Yeah, I've heard of circular breathing. That saxophonist Kenny G is a marvel at it. Also I swear that most of the girls I used to know could talk without taking a breath Joe

I've tried circular breathing...it's almost impossible in my opinion....I can play piano, flute, saxophone, bodhran, tin whistle, a bit of guitar and spoons...I have a ukelele, which I haven't learned to play yet...anyhoo, those are my instruments
Cheers, Ginny

Hi Ginny, Wow...you DO play a lot of instruments! Congratulations on your talent! I bought a really nice bodhran...I love the sound and resonance of the instrument. The ukelele might be tricky to play...but I know you'll learn to play it well ;D Joe

I hope so...I've had the dang thing since Christmas...I asked my mom for a new tinwhistle, and I got a ukelele instead....long story...anyhoo, I love the bodhran too. It's my favourite instrument to play. Way back when my sister and I became Cottars fans, she wanted to learn the bodhran, and I wanted to play the tin whistle. Ever since I became a Great Big Sea fan, I've wanted to learn to play the accordion...and just the other day I found out my neighbour has an old one..... Cheers, Ginny
