The Cottars were featured on an episode of Zoom. Fiona sang a portion of Suilean Dubh and joined her bandmates round the campfire. She explained what a ceilidh is and said that Cape Breton is a wonderful place for a vacation...but take a musical instrument with you!
I don't have the capability to show the 90 sec. clip...my digital camera captured the clip from the videotape. It's 9 MB and far too large to e-mail. But if anyone is interested, I can take a pic of the TV screen.

Wow, that's great news Joe! I'm glad to see that publicity has been fairly brisk for The Cottars. I'd love to see a screenshot if you can't send the clip, but maybe you could try a free file-hosting site like putfile ( www.putfile.com/ ). It lets you upload files up to 25 MB in size for people to watch at any time, though they restrict the kinds of files you can use. Another site, www.yousend.it/ , allows you to upload a file up to 50 MB, and send the link to whomever you wish. You can also send it to your own email account and then post the link it provides. The link and the file expire after 7 days. The latter site doesn't require you to sign up at all, and neither require any special software. Thanks for keeping us up-to-date on all the goings on in Cottarland, Joe! Without you, I would be completely in the dark! ;D

I'm uploading the clip now to yousend.it . The picture quality isn't the greatest, but you'll get the gist of it. I think this first aired on ZOOM around 2002...my PBS station didn't give an episode number.

Sorry, the upload process failed all three times. The upload itself went well...the page w/ the link didn't seem to want to load However, I will do lots of screenshots and perhaps even capture the audio track. My apologies! Joe

You can also put it on megaupload, or savefile, or youtube.

Well goodness! I had no idea ZOOM was still running! I used to watch it with my little sister (she loved the Toast scenes). Thanks for this Joe!

I can't get it to work right now, but thanks anyway I still remember the day that I randomly decided to watch Zoom, and they were the special guests. I hope I can get it to work so I can watch it again. Cheers, Ginny

Hi Ginny Try to download it again. It's difficult waiting for that timer to count down, etc. Yeah, glad my mom videotaped that episode of Zoom. Joe
