Sean McCann was born in Carbonear, Newfoundland. Like his fellow band members, he comes from a family of musicians and storytellers. He has an absolutely beautiful voice. It's hard to believe that the same man who sings "Yarmouth Town", "Mari-Mac", "Paddy Murphy" and "The Mermaid" also sings "Something To It", "Captain Wedderburn" and "Graceful and Charming". He has been known to blow audiences away by his amazing rendition of "General Taylor". Besides his lovely voice, he also plays the bodhran, tin whistle, shakers, and guitar. Sean's fans are known as "Shantyfans", which comes from his nickname "The Shantyman". I've heard him referred to as "the sexiest bodhran player in the world". I can't argue with that
