I really don't care for the Olympics anymore; I used to but all they have now are professionals, especially with the US.
But when I watch I do like the rhythmic gymnastics, when they use the ribbons, hoops, balls, etc. It's very cool to watch. I like the synchronized swimming too, for the same reason. The equestrian events are OK, except I really wouldn't consider it a sport.
The rest of the events I can take or leave, especially the basketball which is a joke.

My favourite events are Tae Kwan Do(Since I briefly studied Karate, which is similar), Judo, And Gymnastics (since I briefly studied Gymnastics as well). What I do not like is, Greco-Roman wrestling (because it looks to me like there trying to make love, instead of war), Syncronised swimming (this is a sport?), and basketball.

Hello nancywhiskey!
Thanks for sharing that info! Claire is a wonderful runner and athlete!
A few weeks ago there was a track and field competition on TV (prob. to qualify for the Olympics) and there was a 16 year old girl who stunned everyone and came in 5th or 6th. She may have even qualified for the Games.
Best wishes Nancy, Joe

Hi,all: This my favorite Olympic song which is sung by our Chinese famous singers, in English it calls Welcome to Beijing.
To Beijing, what you see and feel is not only the ancient empire's majestic solemnity, heavy life, but also the modern city's trendy downtown, high-speed convenience. And the strong modern breath is blowing on your face when set foot in Beijing, with the 29th Olympic Games in 2008, Beijing will once again demonstrate her enchanting charisma in front of the whole world. As the song title says, welcome all to Beijing!
Tracey

Did you all get a chance to watch the Opening Ceremonies? I thought it was spectacular! How about those 2008 drummers at the very start? The focal point for me was that parchment paper in the center of the stadium. What can best be described as "living paintbrushes" delicately created a simple landscape, clouds, and sun. The paper was part of a moving scroll, animated by a 500-foot screen contained in the stadium floor.
As the ceremony progressed, children added color to the paper. Later, each athlete also had an opportunity to add something, as he or she walked across a paint-laden mat and trod onto the paper, leaving their footprints.

Ok... Another question: has the Dressage section happened yet (its the equestrian one where people wear black jackets, top hats, white breeches, and high boots)?

Ok... Another question: has the Dressage section happened yet (its the equestrian one where people wear black jackets, top hats, white breeches, and high boots)? ~NL Hi NL, Some of the dressage was on this morning. But this week should feature more dressage plus other equestrian events. Here is the Equestrian Schedule page from the Beijing 2008 Official Site... results.beijing2008.cn/WRM/ENG/Schedule/EQ.shtmlHopefully NBC will air some of it...if I get broadcast times, I'll post them here for you.
