I recently wrote to the Cottars, (see second letter) and I received this very nice response from Allister MacGillivray (first letter)! It has alot a great information. I am very glad to be able to share this all with you!!!! ;D
Hi Eliza Rose:
The Cottars reformed their band in August of last year and toured in the fall & winter with the new line-up (to rave reviews!). The members of the band are: Ciaran & Fiona MacGillivray (original Cottars), and Claire Pettit and Bruce Timmons. This new Cottars group is absolutely amazing!!
This version of the band has performed in such US states as Wisconsin & California, and in western & eastern Canada, and Ciaran & Fiona were down in Boston recently.
The fall of 2007 will see them re-join their old friends, The Chieftains, in eastern Canada.
2008 will find the band in many parts of the US. Check the Canadian website in the fall for more details:

The group has new management, but their booking agent & record label remain same, so they’ll be performing all over North America, as they they did before. The new management is developing an improved website, and that is why the old site has not been updated in any detail.
Hopefully you can see them perform in your area before long. Meanwhile, thanks for your support. Note: the first 3 CD’s are still available at www.miramusic.net/cottars
Dear Cottars et al,
Hello my name is Eliza and I am a big fan. In fact because to them I have been reinspired to go back to music myself after a long vocal problem. I have been a little disappointed in recent months about the lack of information about the group. The Myspace site has not really been updated in a very long time. Ever since last year's breakup there is little to go on as to the new formation of the group and when where and if the group will perform. Unfortunately I have yet been lucky enough to see them perform live. It seems the performances that have gone on this year with one exeption had been all up in Canada. Is there anyway I can be informed if the group will possibly perform again in the U.S, preferably in the east coast? I understand the group is now in the process of reforming, at least I hope that is what is going on. They are such a talented group. I do hope they will continue to make beautiful celtic music. Any information you can give me would be a big help. I of course will understand if I am not privy to certain information. I do hope to hear from someone though, at least to say that you have recieved my email. Thank you in advance for your time.
Peace, Love and Happiness,
ElizaRose Gilner
