wow learning akkadian, that is crazy!!!! It boggles my mind sometimes to think how old these languages are and they are still being spoken and taught. I assume you also go into the histories of the peoples as well. I would hope so for me I would want to know something about the people who used the language. I see the celts as being a very ancient people, but not as ancient as the sumerians. Lanuages and music. wow afanoffiona you are awesome!!!

Hey Elizarose,
Actually, they divide it up into two classes. For instance, I took Old Testament history and Hebrew as two different classes. The reason for this is that, if you don't, then the grammar takes time away from the study of history, and the history takes time away from the study of grammar.
God Bless, afanoffiona

Hey Jason! Do you mean "Baruch 'atta" [you are blessed]? God Bless, afanoffiona Yes. I just spelled it differently. It doesn't really matter how one spells middle eastern languages like, hebrew, or arabic, since they use a different form of writing than we do. Which is why some spell the festival of lights, hannukah, and others spell it Channukah. Blessed be, Jason 22.

OK. I'm quite sure everyone's made their choice of religion clear. Futher discussion regarding religion on this thread shall be limited to afanoffiona's studies. Let's move on to something else. How was your day?

My day was not very good. Here in Illinois February has been a horrible month for weather. We haven't had a day above freezing all month, last week we had like 5 inches of snow on Wednesday, and today we are having like 5 more inches. This makes driving to work miserable. Also we have like 35 mph winds, and after this snow is done we'll have zero degree (F) weather. Then when it warms up to maybe 25 F on the weekend, the snow will come again and the cycle will keep repeating itself. Maybe I shouldn't complain because I would think Canadians might be more used to the cold and snow. Chicagoans are too, but January was such a nice month and as it turns out, we may have like 30 days straight of sub-freezing weather here. This will be I bet the worst February weather we've ever had.

I had a bad week last week but I feel better this week and today. One of my cats had a severely infected paw. I thought he had had a claw ripped out, turned out it was just a really bad cut that had gotten infected. I am such a worry wort about my cats. If one of them so much as sneezes I am trying to go to the vet. My fiance has to bring me back to reality and say hold on a min, is it really all that bad. I can't imagine how I might be with my kids if I am like this with my cats. I can't help myself I love my cats to pieces, I am absolutely crazy about them

My last week or so have been pretty good. Well, first of all, my math exam didn't go to well But at least it's over, and I've started my new classes finally. I'm taking a class in the morning where next week, I'll start spending the period with a younger grade, helping out the teacher, or working one on one with a student. Ironically, I think I'm going with a math class But that's okay, because I've taken that math class before, and my marks were really high in it. The class I'm in now looks really good on your transcripts, especially if you want to apply for a bachelor of education in university, which I do. I'm also taking history, English and chemistry. So far, they are all really good courses with really good teachers, they just involve a lot of work. Also-it's finally supposed to get a bit warmer up here! Maybe I'll actually be able to leave the house in just a sweater and vest and not freeze... Cheers, Ginny

Hi Ginny,
I'm sure did your best on your math exam. That's wonderful that one of your new classes involves assisting a student.
Keep up the work at school!

Hey guys, hope you've all had a good week and weekend. Has anyone been sick? To my knowledge, the flu's been travelling rapidly across Canada...or at least PEI . Well, it took a while to get to us, but now it's here and everyone seems to be sick with it, or something else. In fact, I heard that last Monday, there were 800 kids home sick because of the bug. Anyway, it hit my family in the past few weeks. I've visited here a few times, but I didn't feel well enough to stick around long enough to post anything. I didn't have the flu, just a bad cold. Anyhoo, I hope everyone else has managed to avoid it, and I hope nobody gets it. Cheers for anyone who has, and I hope you recover soon Ginny

Hi Ginny,
Sorry that you've not been feeling the best. I hope that your family is coping well. When my family gets sick, it seems that we pass it on to each other. I wondered where you have been...I saw you popping in on occasion...you know how I worry.
Back in December there was the flu or something going around. Christine was sick for a while. I've not heard of any widespread sickness here in the states.
I like to use that hand sanitizer liquid. Fequent hand washing is a must as well. At the first sign of a stuffy nose or sore throat I will eat some oranges to boost up my vitamin C.
Also keep taking your medication even though you may feel better. You don't want a relapse.
Get well soon, Ginny!
Hugs, Joe

There was something going around my university as well a couple weeks ago, every one was sniffing and coughing, and so of course I got a cold, but it wasnt as bad compared to what some people had. But the majority are all better now which is good. Hope you get better soon Ginny!

Hi Tia Yeah, it's been mild here too. But about an hour ago, it just started to snow. Then rain is expected all day on Friday. With heavy rain forecasted and the snow melt , some flooding may happen. So we've got a winter weather advisory and a flood watch posted! Stay safe in that wintry weather up there, Tia! Hugs, Joe

Hey Everyone! I found some neat stuff. I know there are some people who don't know what Akkadian is, so, here is a sample of Akkadian text: Akkadian was written by carving the letters out of clay tablets. Here are some samples of Akkadian writing in clay: God Bless, afanoffiona
